Crowdsourcing – Challenges for Researchers and Practitioners

On 5-6 December 2017 the first academic symposium Crowdsourcing – Challenges for Researchers and Practitioners will be held at the Institute of Public Affairs of the JU Faculty of Management and Social Communication.

It will be the first symposium in Poland pertaining to the broadly understood field of crowdsourcing. The initiative to organise such an event addresses the need for resesarch and analysis aimed at identifying the mechanisms of the functioning of crowdsourcing, its competitiveness and the prospects for its development. The very subject of crowdsourcing is a sort of novelty. Still very little is known about it and there is a shortage of publications, discussion and exchange of ideas in this area.

Crowdsourcing is increasingly used by private companies, but it is also embraced by public organisations. The integration of knowledge and exchange of experiences between researchers and practitioners will allow them to find answers to key questions related to crowdsourcing.

Besides providing an opportunity for the discussion and exchange of ideas, the symposium aims to create a permanent platform for cooperation between representatives of the world business, research, and local government. The organizers are strongly convinced that the exchange of knowledge and experience will enable participants to answer the most urgent questions about crowdsourcing.

The participation is free of charge.

The issues discussed during the meeting will include:

  • crowdsourcing: challenges of conceptualisation, operationalisation and measurement
  • factors determining crowdsourcing
  • types of crowdsourcing
  • benefits, costs, barriers, and risk of crowdsourcing
  • fields of crowdsourcing application
  • virtual community in crowdsourcing
  • proactive leadership in crowdsourcing
  • role of employees in crowdsourcing
  • role of technology in crowdsourcing
  • motivation in crowdsourcing
  • knowledge management in crowdsourcing
  • open innovations
  • social innovations
  • value co-creation
  • prosumerism, wikinomics
  • crowd wisdom
  • participation culture
  • economy of sharing
  • crowdfunding
  • open government
  • innovation in public sector
  • smart city.

The submitted papers in Polish and English will be published in one of two journals - Journal of Intercultural Management, or Crowdsourcing or Zarządzanie Publiczne. Zeszyty Naukowe ISP UJ – or in the monograph Knowledge Management in Contemporary Business Environments.
