Roswell Park establishes partnership with the Jagiellonian University

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center has formed an academic cooperation agreement with the Jagiellonian University. The collaboration will comprise student and faculty exchange as well as joint research enterprise in the area of basic, translational and clinical research in order to advance the development of cancer therapies to benefit patients worldwide.

In the past, it was almost impossible to identify an anonymous author of a book. However, as we delve deeper into the branch of knowledge known as stylometry, we become capable of distinguishing writers by analysing certain traits of their works, such as frequency and patterns of words they use. We asked Jagiellonian University researchers, Dr Michał Choiński and Dr Jan Rybicki from the Institute of English Studies, to tell us more about this ‘mathematical intrusion’ into the world of language.

25th October 2018 will be remembered as an important day not only for the National Synchrotron Radiation Centre SOLARIS, but also the entire Polish academic community. The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has officially announced its decision to fund a unique state-of-the-art cryogenic electron microscope (Cryo-EM) and establish the National Centre for Cryogenic Electron Microscopy at the JU synchrotron.

After more than ten years from the beginning of their reseasrch into the Sun, which provided the understanding of how the power mechanism of our star works at a level of detail never reached before, the BOREXINO experiment team working at the underground laboratories Gran Sasso in the vicinity of Rome published the compendium of their findings on solar neutrinos.
