New Korean Studies double degree programme with the Keimyung University

New Korean Studies double degree programme with the Keimyung University

Starting in the academic year 2018/2019, the Jagiellonian University will introduce a new study programme in Korean Studies – the only one in Poland. It will be realised jointly with the Keimyung University in Daegu, South Korea. The programme will be taught entirely in English.

The interdisciplinary second cycle programme will feature both standard Asian Studies subjects and specialised courses on the specifics of the Korean Peninsula. Students will gain knowledge of Korean history, philosophy, and religion as well as political and economic issues. Gaining a good command of English is a key element of the programme.

The first year of the programme will be conducted at the Jagiellonian University, the second and final year – at the Keimyung University in Daegu. By the end of the programme, students will have to write and defend an MA thesis at both universities. Upon fulfilment of these conditions, they will be awarded two degrees: MA in Korean Studies and MA in Asian Studies, specialisation: Korean Studies.

Graduates of the programme will be able to find employment in Polish and Korean businesses, organisations, and institutions. This includes public administration, NGOs, cultural institutions, publishing houses, media etc.
