Jagiellonian University in the QS World University Rankings

Jagiellonian University in the QS World University Rankings

This year’s edition of the QS World University Ranking, which includes the best thousand higher education institutions in the entire world, features 14 such institutions from Poland. Of those, the Jagiellonian University holds the second highest position.

Amongst the Polish higher education institutions, the highest position was taken by the University of Warsaw (394), while the Jagiellonian University was ranked as 411.

The QS World University Rankings have been conducted since 2004 by Quacquarelli Symonds, a British organisation specialising in the issues related to higher education and student mobility. It is one of the most important rankings worldwide, next to others such as Times Higher Education, Shanghai Ranking and U-Multirank. Its main purpose is to provide prospective students with means to make an informed decision about choosing a university and to promote the idea of studying abroad.

The rankings are based on several criteria: academic reputation, employer reputation, student-to-faculty ratio, citations per faculty, and international faculty and student ratio.

More information is available at the rankings’ official website.
