Dr Katarzyna Nessler to lead Vasco Da Gama Movement

On 25 May, during the 23rd WONCA Europe Conference held in Kraków, delegates from 33 countries elected Dr Katarzyna Nessler from the Jagiellonian University Medical College will be the new leader of the Vasco Da Gama Movement. WONCA (World Organization of Family Doctors) is a global professional organisation representing family physicians and general practitioners from all regions of the world.


Dr Katarzyna Nessler works at the JU MC Department of Family Medicine. She is a graduate of the JU MC Faculty of Medicine. After her post-graduate internship, she moved to Australia, where she had her degree validated in order to be able to participate in additional training, such as paediatric dermatology. Following her return to Poland, she chose to specialise in family medicine. She participated in courses and workshops in the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain.

She is a member of the executive board of the College of Family Physicians in Poland. Since 2014, she has been a Polish representative in the Vasco Da Gama Movement. She is the author of several dozen papers presented on both national and international conferences.

As the President of the Vasco Da Gama Movement, Dr Katarzyna Nessler will focus on scientific development as well as improving the financial situation of young doctors.

Vasco Da Gama Movement of an international organisation associating young and future doctors (from the beginning of their specialisation until up to five years after it is finished) in Europe in collaboration with WONCA Europe. It was founded in Amsterdam in 2004.
