Jagiellonian University visited by Ambassador of Bangladesh

On 21 May 2018, the Jagiellonian University was visited by Muhammad Mahfuzuar Rahman, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Poland.

The diplomat was received in Collegium Novum by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak. Other participants in the meeting included Barikul Islam, First Secretary of the Embassy of Bangladesh to Poland, Prof. Adam Jelonek, JU Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation, Head of the JU Institute of the Middle and Far East, and Dr hab. Agnieszka Kuczkiewicz-Fraś, Head of the JU Department of South Asia.

The conversation focused on academic cooperation between the Jagiellonian University and Bangladeshi institutions of higher education, with special emphasis on student exchange development and the planned establishment of the Centre of Bangladeshi Studies at the JU Faculty of International and Political Studies.  

After the meeting, the delegation went to the historic building of Collegium Maius, where, after a short tour of the Jagiellonian University Museum, the Ambassador gave a lecture to students of the JU Faculty of International and Political Studies. The talk was entitled Bangladesh in the Context of the Asian Century.
