Ambassador of Hungary visits JU

On 24 May 2017 the Jagiellonian University was visited by the Ambassador of Hungary to Poland Orsolya Zsuzsanna Kovács and the Consul General of Hungary to Kraków Adrienne Körmendy. The diplomats were received in Collegium Novum by the Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak.

During the meeting, the Ambassador thanked the Rector for the Jagiellonian University’s contribution to the strengthening of friendship between Poland and Hungary, referring, among other issues, to the visit of Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban at the Jagiellonian University in December 2016. The conversation also focused on the current challenges faced by European countries, including demographic problems and the migrant crisis.

Orsolya Zsuzsanna Kovács was born in Budapest and has had strong links with Poland since her early childhood. As a primary school student, she spent four years in Warsaw, where her father worked as a diplomat. She has authored numerous publications in both Polish and Hungarian, including the book Lengyel Mozaik (Polish Mosaics), which contains fourteen interviews with famous Poles, including Lech Walesa and Andrzej Wajda.  She was appointed Ambassador of Hungary to Poland in early 2017.
