On Friday 21 April 2017, Victoria González Ariza, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to Poland, visited the Jagiellonian University. The delegation was received by Prof. Wojciech Nowak, JU Rector.
The participants of the meeting, which included close associates of the ambassador as well as Prof. Adam Jelonek, Head of the Institute of the Middle and Far East, discussed the possibility initiation cooperation between Colombian higher education institutions and the Jagiellonian University. Victoria González Ariza stated that thanks to the newly introduced government academic staff exchange programme, Polish universities are beginning to see a great rise in popularity in Colombia. It was decided that in the coming months, the ambassador’s office will designate two universities – preliminary arrangements concerned the National University of Colombia and the university of Los Andes – with which the Jagiellonian University will sign a memorandum of understanding. This will enable the universities to coordinate the collaboration regarding joint research and student and staff mobility.
