Innovative treatment of Crouzon syndrome

The innovative operation of a 4-year old child was conducted in the JU Children's Hospital. The patient was suffering from the Crouzon syndrome (a genetic craniofacial disorder). The aim of the surgery was to correct the skull defect by approaching a back part of the skull (and not the front part as previously). What is  more, this method does not require a corrective cranial band or helmet. The surgery was carried out by Dr Jan Skirpan and it was the 10th operation of this kind in the world.
