The JU ranked first as the strongest research university in Poland

According to the 2010 ranking prepared by the educational monthly “Perspektywy” and the daily “Rzeczpospolita. the Jagiellonian University is seen as the strongest research university in Poland, which enjoyes the highest prestige among academics and the highest number of publications and citations. The JU won the first place among universities offering educational programmes in the humanities and the JU Collegium Medicum won the first place among university medical schools.
In the general ranking the JU came in second after the Warsaw University (by a small margin of 0.73%). The Warsaw University was ranked higher by employers (though 23% of them represented the Mazowieckie Voivodeship and only 6% the Małopolskie Voivodship). It was more popular among the finalists and laureates of high school subject contests (olimpiada) and came in first in the three categories related to innovative programmes (a new criterion in comparison with previous rankings). It also scored more points for international programmes. In the “study environment” category the JU outran the Warsaw University thanks to a vigorous programme of investing into university infrastructure.

Detailed scores in the general ranking

The ranking results accompanied by diploma presentation were announced in Warsaw on May 13, 2010. The JU diplomas were received by professor Michał du Vall, Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Financial Management and the diploma for Collegium Medicum was received by prof. dr. hab. Beata Tobiasz-Adamczyk, Representative of the JU Rector for Education at the Medical College.
