Coxed eights rowing regatta has already become an integral part of the celebrations of the Jagiellonian University Day. This year’s event, marking the 654th anniversary of the University’s foundation, will be held at the beautiful bend of the Vistula river next to Wawel castle.
The competitors will include six academic teams from Warsaw, Wrocław and Kraków, representing the University of Warsaw, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, the University of Wrocław, the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, the Jagiellonian University, and the Jagiellonian University Medical College.In addition to watching the racing, all who visit the banks of Vistula River will be able to see a boat parade and test their mettle in "dry paddling" – 654 metres on stationary ergometers. The first 350 participants to complete the challenge will receive a commemorative T-shirt. The children will be also given university memorabilia.
The sporting event will be accompanied by fundraising for the St. Lazarus Hospice in Kraków.
