Smart Book Awards 2016

Smart Book Awards is a competition which proves that books about science can be truly fascinating!

By organising this annual contest, the organisers want to invite readers to an extraordinary journey where science becomes an adventure and passion for pursuing one’s interests, or simply learning more about the world. Another aim is to inspire publishers and authors to care about the quality of scientific books for the general reader, which are quickly gaining popularity.

Within the framework of the competition, members of the academic community of the Jagiellonian University will vote for the best scientific book for the general reader published in 2016.

Jagiellonian University students, doctoral students, and staff are entitled to take part in the voting, and support the author of their favourite title from the list of books nominated in the competition. The results of the vote will be published on April 4 and the winner will receive the Euclid Statuette – the JU academic community award.

Altogether, the Euclid Statuettes will be awarded in five categories:

  • Smart Book of the Year 2016
  • Smart Book of the Year 2016 – Children’s Edition
  • Smart Book website editors’ award
  • JU academic community award
  • public choice award

Everybody is welcome to attend the meeting with the authors and publishers of the winning books, which will be held on April 20 in the Matras Bookstore on the Main Market Square in Kraków.
