On 4 July 2018 a meeting aimed at expanding cooperation between the JU and Korea University within the framework of the last year’s Memorandum of Understanding was held in Collegium Novum.

The Korean delegation, which consisted of the Dean of Graduate School Sang Ho Lom and the Manager of Study Abroad Programmes Seung Hyun Yang, was received by the JU Vice-Rector for University Development Prof. Dorota Malec. Other meeting participants from the Jagiellonian University included the Rector’s Proxy for Internationalisation Prof. Adam Jelonek, as well as the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology Prof. Jolanta Jura, the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science Prof. Franciszek Krok and the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry Prof. Wojciech Macyk.

Prof. Adam Jelonek presented the representatives of Korea University with the most important facts about the Jagiellonian University and briefly discussed the areas of proposed cooperation, which, in his opinion, should include not only student exchange, but also visiting professors exchange, joint research teams and projects, double degree programmes, as well as joint doctoral programmes.

The vice-deans provided overviews of their faculties in the context of the planned collaboration. Then, Korea University delegation delivered a presentation about their institution, which is one of three leading Korean universities and occupies high positions in world university rankings. The university, located in Seoul, has over 47 thousand students and about 5 thousand academic staff members. As many as 40 percent of the programmes are taught in English.

After the main part of the meeting, the delegation discussed details of the planned cooperation with the representatives of selected JU faculties.
