Surgery at the JU University Hospital broadcast to worldwide audience

The JU Medical College Chair and Clinic of Urology joined the most prestigious urological centres from around the world to present its surgical techniques as part of the 2nd edition of the SIU LIVE event. The procedure – total laparoscopic hysterectomy with sacrocolpopexy – was observed by a worldwide audience on 6 April 2018.

During this year’s edition of SIU LIVE, 59 surgical procedures conducted at the best urological centres around the world were filmed and broadcast live over the course of two days via the Internet. The organisers made sure every viewer was able to ask questions and express their own opinion on each procedure. It is an innovative method of teaching that eliminates clinical risk.

JU University Hospital’s Clinic of Urology offers a comprehensive list of adult urological procedures, including those from the area of onco-urology. It specialises in minimally invasive procedures, such as laparoscopic and endoscopic treatment of prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers.

The clinic conducts both urological and interdisciplinary research projects, focusing mainly on metabolism and its relation to cancer pathogenesis, such as the impact of obesity on cancer development, and the implementation of innovative technological solutions to increase the quality of performed surgeries.
