Academic community holds a traditional Christmas meeting

On Wednesday, 20 December 2017 the traditional Christmas meeting of the academic community took place at the Jagiellonian University. The event was attended by authorities of the Jagiellonian University and other higher education institutions from Kraków, members of local and regional authorities and the diplomatic corps. The special guest was the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kraków Marek Jędraszewski.

The Rector of the Jagiellonian University Prof. Wojciech Nowak wished everybody merry Christmas. He also expressed his wishes for peace in Poland, Europe and the entire world. “On this special day, the would all like to receive goodness, wisdom and tolerance as Christmas gifts,” the rector added.

Traditionally, the event featured singing of Christmas carols with the JU Song and Dance Ensemble “Słowianki”. The ceremony was also accompanied by an illumination of Collegium Novum building, consisting of picturesque seasonal motifs.
