His Excellency
Alejandro Negrín Muñoz
Ambassador of the United Mexican States
Your Excellency,
Dear Mr Ambassador
It was with great sadness that the academic community of the Jagiellonian University learnt of the tragic earthquake that occurred in Mexico of 19 September 2017, in which nearly 250 people died and thousands lost their livelihoods.
In the face of such unexpected tragedy, we always feel helpless and unprepared. All is left is our feelings and memories. The community of the Jagiellonian University remembers the victims of the disaster and wishes to express sincerest sympathy to their families. Please extend our heartfelt condolences to the communities of Mexican universities whose members were affected by the earthquake. The Jagiellonian University is sharing in their grief.
At this difficult time, we would like to offer our support to your nation – families and friends of the dead, as well as the injured and all those affected by the disaster. On behalf of the senate and the academic community of the Jagiellonian University I would like to offer them my deepest sympathy.
Prof. Wojciech Nowak, MD, PhD
Rector of the Jagiellonian University
