The „Run to Help” campaign has started. The 6th Tesco Foundation Charity Run in Kraków will raise money for a neonatal ambulance for patients of the University Children’s Hospital in Kraków.

The event, held on 26 August 2017 in Błonia Park, will include:

• 5 km run,
• 10 km run,
• spike heel run,
• children’s run,
• numerous workshops and other attractions promoting healthy lifestyle.

The neonatal ambulance “N” is a specialist ambulance equipped with an incubator, respirator, portable ultrasound machine, and medicines. The emergency team, consisting of a neonatologist, a neonatal nurse and a paramedic driver, starts treatment as soon as it gets to the patient. Such vehicles have many times enabled doctors to save youngest patients’ lives.

“Each year, we transport about 30 young patients in most severe condition to the hospital. To be sent to a patient, an ambulance needs to be fully operational, which, unfortunately, is becoming more and more difficult. Our ambulance is 8 years old and has covered almost 500 thousand kilometres. Hence, it has to undergo frequent repairs, instead of being used to save the patients’ lives. The purchase of a new fully-equipped ambulance is beyond the hospital’s resources. So we are very happy with the fresh initiative of Tesco Foundation Charity Run, which will enable us to get a new car”, said Dr Mateusz Jagła, Head of Transportation at the Department of Neonatal Pathology and Intensive Care of the Univeristy Children’s Hospital in Kraków.
